    • Although German is usually cited as an outstanding example of a highly inflected language, the degree of inflection is considerably less than in Old German or in other old Indo-European languages such as Latin, Ancient Greek, or Sanskrit, or, for instance, in modern Icelandic or Russian. The three genders have collapsed in the plural, which now behaves, grammatically, somewhat as a fourth gender.

Pytanie #1:

How come multiculturalism didn't triumph in certain places?

I thought that it was the only way for a society to succeed via diversity and multiculturalism yet:
1. Former Yugoslavia.
2. India (hardly a fine situation there with tensions between Hindus and Muslims)
3. Pakistan (horrible mistreatment of the Christian minority by many in the Muslim majority)
4. Viet Nam (treatment of Montagnard people)
5. Laos (treatment of Hmong people)
6. China (treatment of Tibetans)
7. Iran (treatment of Baha'i practitioners)
8. Turkey (Kurdish separatism)
9. Iraq (Sunni vs. Shia, persecution of Kurds)
10. Sudan (Christians vs. Muslims)
11. South Africa (rapidly escalating violent crime rate, several no-go areas in Johannesburg)
12. Egypt (tension between Muslims and Copts)
13. Israel (Muslims vs. Jews)
14. Northern Ireland (Catholic Republicans vs. Protestant Loyalists)
15. Canada (Quebec separatists)
16. Fiji (attacks on the Indian minority)
17. Former Soviet Union (Chechens)
18. Latvia (tension between ethnic Russians and Latvians)
19. Britain (violence in immigrant neighbourhoods and hostility towards fundamentalist Muslims by the Whites)
20. France (racial tension between French and Muslims)
21. Nigeria (tension between Northern Muslims and Southern Christians)
22. Uganda (terrible tension leading to expulsion of Indian minority)

OK, Switzerland is an exception as they have Italian, French, German and Romansch speakers living together in harmony, but for the most part, multiculturalism has been a desperate failure as people discover that some cultures are not very nice towards women, gays, atheists, etc. Look at successful Japan (homogenous), Finland (homogenous), Republic of Ireland (homogenous), South Korea (homogenous), Norway (homogenous)...and the list goes on. The only way for an ethnically, racially diverse society to succeed is through ASSIMILATION. For example, Australia has various ethnicities but the country is united by an Australian identity: the use of the English language, the promotion of a common culture ----cricket, Aussie Rules' football, etc. Same thing with America ---it's best when people assimilate and leave behind things like burqas, funeral pyres, genital mutilation, union of church and state, stoning of adulterers...multiculturalism is anti assimilation. There is nothing wrong with being proud of your heritage or being knowledgeable about it ---that is common among many Americans, particularly the Irish and the Italians but they know that they are Americans and that Irish and Italian laws and customs do not apply here, this is another society.
Yes, immigration and if you had bothered to read my entire post you would have noticed that I referred to an ethnically/racially pluralistic society but I also mentioned that when people came here they did not bring all the baggage of the old country with them. Multiculturalism teaches us not to be a melting pot, but to hold on to the way of life in the country we have immigrated from ----innocuous little reminders of other societies are fine, but when you bring values that are contrary to freedom, you are going to ruin a society. I do not respect cultures where adulterers are stoned to death nor where women have to be covered or there is no separation of church and state, where nine-year olds can be married legally....I feel no shame in calling those cultures inferior. In fact, I strongly believe that the culture of prosperous, free Finland is superior to that of repressive Saudi Arabia where human rights are disregarded. Anyone moving to Finland should follow the Finnish way.
Or how about I import to the West people who believe that gays are not human, that women should have no rights, that adulterers should be stoned to death, that church and state must be united ----after all, it's just their culture and all cultures are equal, eh?

Questions to Germans : Your opinion on the current German national football team?

First, I have no intention to stimulate your nationalism. Please do not misunderstand my reason for this question.
I'm an enthusiastic fan of the current German national football team, though they were defeated by Spain in the semi-final of 2010 FIFA World Cup.
At the time, I also wished Germany their "4th Star" - that is - 4. Stern fuer Deutschland.
Maybe it's because I used to be a learner of the German language in my high school days.

The current German team is quite different from their past prime time - that is, the West German team in the 1980's, when most of the players were "native" Germans.
I'd never use the incorrect term "Aryans" - mainly used in the Nazi era.
I mean, many of the current German footballers are the sons of immigrants or former Gastarbeiter (guest workers). Take, for example, 'Mesut Oezil" (Turkish), "Sami Khedira" (Tunisian), "Marko Marin" (Bosnian Serb), "Jerome Boateng" (Ghanaian), "Cacau" (Brazilian), "Klose" and "Podolski" (ethnic Germans in Poland).
They remind me of the former French national football team, the winners of the 1998 Fifa World Cup.
They were also composed of many immigrants - mainly Africans and some ethnic minorities from Europe.
I heard from an article that some, if not many, conservative or racist German fans didn't want the "multicultural" German team to win the Cup, just because they were strictly not "pure" Germans.
But I'd like to say that the German team had been rather unsatisfactory for the past few years, because most of the footballers were a bit too old.
And now, the "immigrant" footballers helped Germany to regain their past fame.
I liked the former Turkish-German footballer Mehmet Scholl, and now I like Mesut Oezil and other "immigrant" German footballers as well as native Germans like Mueller, Schweinsteiger, etc.
What do you German football fans think of your current national football team?

Pytanie #4:

Which language to take: Spanish or German?

I took two years of Spanish in middle school (three actually, if you count one in elementary school in a different district) that counts as one year of high school Spanish. So I'm set to go into Spanish II for this coming year, my freshman year. Except I don't really know what to do. My school offers Spanish, German, French, and Mandarin Chinese. I'm not interested in Mandarin at all and while I love the way French sounds and would love to be able to understand it, I just don't have the drive to learn it. I'm currently self-teaching Russian to myself at home, so I'm not so sure it's such a great idea to double-up on languages and take Spanish II, German I, and the equivalent of Russian I (if that even exists somewhere) at HOME.

So, I'm trying to figure out my priorities language-wise. I'm keeping the Russian; I've wanted to learn it all my life and I'm on a roll now so I'm not going to drop that. So it's between Spanish and Russian. Yeah, I've used up two years on it, for the equivalent of Spanish I. But this would also be a good point to quit if I were going to do so. Yeah, Spanish is "spoken in more countries than German" but unless I'm getting a low-paying job here in the U.S. or attempting to read the signs in stores these days, I don't really, like, NEED it. I'm a 3rd-gen German immigrant (aka my great-grandparents immigrated here) but they came right before WWII, and so obviously it wasn't the best idea to be touting your German-ness about then and it died out; none of my living family members know German. (My grandma knew it, but she died long before I was born, of cancer.) But if you want to be a professor, or go into medicine, or anything like that, German is the language of choice, as well as if I travel to/work in/live in Europe, anywhere. I'd take both if I could - my ultimate goal is to be a polyglot - but I'm trying to prioritize. In THIS MOMENT, what's best? And I don't mind "starting over" with German - I actually took a trimester's-worth in middle school, and would have taken that instead of Spanish from the start, but they stopped offering it - since I only had the year's-worth of Spanish.

Ultimately, I'm not interested in vacationing in Mexico or traveling to Central or South America, and if so it'd be short and I could probably get by well enough on what I know now and some crude sign language, if necessary. On the other hand, I expect to be traveling to Europe at LEAST a few times in my adult life, if not moving there. So, I'm thinking German, but wanted to hear opinions...? And don't try playing the minority card or the "German is only spoken in Germany and Austria" thing. And actually, Austrians have their own differentiation of German..
between Spanish and German*

Pytanie #5:

City Racism Against Asians?

Can someone please explain to me why I was walking in New York and I saw some black men harassing a teenage Asian boy? They kept saying Ni Hao and pulling their eyes back, which was incredibly stupid in my opinion, because not all Asians have "slanted eyes" or in the non derogatory term- epicanthal fold.
If Asians in America on average have a higher standard of living and educational background than other ethnic groups, why do they receive so much racism and hit the racial "invisible ceiling" in ladders of society? I mean most of them, I do not generalize, I apologize for not having proper citation, are attempting to assimilate into American society and most of them speak English very well.
I don't understand why were these black men, excuse me for being politically incorrect please correct me, were harassing him. He may not have even been Chinese. Calling all Asians Chinese is like ignoring the rest of the Asian ethnic groups such as the Japanese, Vietnamese, and Koreans. I mean, understandably, they may look similar to people not accustomed to their faces, but it is like comparing Russians or Poles, to a German. Sure they have lighter complexions and sometimes similar eye colors, but they have subtle differences including language and culture. It's easy to separate them.

My topic question is: Why were these black men harassing another man based on his race? Isn't this racism? I mean, many blacks emphasize that they should not be judged by the color of their skin, then why do many of them in the city harass other ethnic groups? I thought what Martin Luther King Jr. condemned was racism, particularly for blacks in America. He had said "colored" people, essentially the minority ethnic groups in America.
I apologize if it appears that I'm discriminating all blacks in New York. It was these few men that bothered me.

Whats your opinion about people discriminating against minorities coming into the united states?

Whats your opinion about people discriminating against minorities coming into the united states?
Okay, I know a few girls who "fake" tan, are trying to be colored but have a problem with minorites coming into the united states, not being able to speak english very well.

I found this group from one of these "white" girls i know who have a problem with latino's but tries to be latino by trying to be colored skin. Anyways.. Do you think its wrong for minorities to come into the united states and be able to speak a different language besides "english"?

Bc I believe its a freedom of speech, that we're all minorites mixed with some different language or so! I don't understand how a white person can discriminate against minorites when they're a minority themself. Theirs not only the language Spanish but theirs also german, french and russian and other people who speak a different language, i don't understand it bc they're discriminating on their ancestors!

How can someone who's white hate against white people when those white people weren't raised in the united states, they were actually living out of the united states, moving to america to have the freedom as other americans do!

NOw, whats your opinion bc I feel its racisim and discrimination against people like that! I feel that living in the united states its a freedom of will, that I feel people who do discriminate against latino's will eventually get their ass kicked by a bunch of minorities! Plus, I feel that the school systems don't pay enough to teach people how to speak english, so why hate on people from not understanding or learning how to speak english very well?

Whats your opinion?
But some people out in different countries already are learning the language english, knowing another language at the same time!

Pytanie #11:

Do you think Moscow , Beijing & Tehran to the free (or democratic world) ?

According to many experts in geopolitics there is a hidden (but lately more obvious) alliance between the Russian Federation , China & Iran.I started calling them "The Three Evil Empires" because every one of this 3 countries are heirs of Russian Empire (after called Soviet Union) , Chinese Empire (which changed this name for popular Republic of China or simply China) , Iran (which changed the name of Persian Empire for Persia & then for Iran today also known as Islamic republic of Iran).

During the '80s the USSR was called "The Evil Empire" or "Soviet Empire" by the then pres. of The USA , Ronald reagan.

After this terms i came up with the term "The Three Evil Empires" for Russia , China , & Iran.

No doubt they're not democratic nor they wanna help democracy & freedom but oppose them.Actually when within U.N.O. are sanctions against Iran for its Nuke program , Russia & China go always to rescue their friend Iran.So it is when there are sanctions against tyrant leaders of Sudan , Zimbabwe , Myanmar or others.

No one of these 3 countries are free either.

"The Three Evil empires" are not called empires anymore but they obviously are empires. They really are imperialistic since their goal is dominating the world thru A.L.B.A. in Latin America since Iran , Russia & China have several agreements (commercial , energetic , military , diplomatic) with A.L.B.A. countries.Russia said is willing to join A.L.B.A.

So it is with the anti-western Non-Aligned countries organisation in which the very anti-Western Cuba & Iran are very influent.

Another organisation which supports "The Three Evil Empires" is the Collective Security Treaty Organisation. This military organisation is composed by former Soviet countries.

"The Three Evil Empires" try to bribe the West & the whole thru their resources. They are a big threat to the world."Russia , China & Iran" wanna blackmail us thru hydrocarbons & they're about to create a gas cartel OPEC like.Russia even said it wants to join OPEC.

The mentioned organisations , Non Aligned Movement, CSTO , A.L.B.A. ...are used to tackle the West & to dominate the world , but the main & most plain anti-freedom organisation is the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (O.S.C.).This last organisation which "Iran , China & Russia" belong is the "New Warsaw Pact" or "The Eastern NATO".

Like you can watch in this link Click Here Iran is an imperialist because wants to dominate Farshi-Persian speaker regions. They even claim Armenians & Georgians because Iran says their languages are part of Iranian branch of languages. They just were very influenced by Persian since Armenia & Georgia belonged to the Persian Empire.

Iran is mainly Shiite Moslem that's why the imperialistic Iran wants to dominate several thru Shia minorities & radical groups in:Iraq(Muqtada Al-Sadr is supposed to be an Iranian agent which leads Al-Mahdi militia) , Lebanon (Shiite Hizbollah) , Israel-Palestine(Hammas.This one isn't Shiite but follows Iranian leaders).

Russian imperialism is well known by everybody since Soviet times.Lately we have seen the imperialist Russia again attacking a country , Georgia , "helping Abkhazia & Ossetia" which had with "Russian citizens" like Hitler did with German citizens in Sudetenland , Czekoslovakia.

Russia sould set Caucassian republics free since they were independent in the recent time around 1800's.These republics are the popular Chechenya , Daghestan , Ingushetia. This is a Chechenian link: Click Here This link is from the Circassians Click Here
Russia still has troops or military stuff in Moldova , Ukraine , Tadjikistan , Armenia , Kazakhstan & Kyrgizstan & other countries.

Russia still has a military base in Syria & is about to buid one in Lybia.

The supposed antiimperialist "Maoist China" invaded in the '50s the Tibet.Tibet Click Here should be decolonized by Chinese as well as Turkestan or XiXinkiang since it was recently invaded by China(19th Century).

China wants to dominate some way Asian South Eastern countries thru the big Han Chinese minorities there are in those countries.

China plans building military bases in Iran , Pakistan & Ecuador.

China thru its investments is starting dominating resources in Africa (Called for many Chinafrica because of the big Chinese influence in Africa).China has several commercial & energetic treaties with the African countries. For example China is associated with Nigeria.China as well is exclusively associated with Sudan Tyranny & Angola.

Russia , China & Iran jail opponents , journalists ...They don't have free press & they kill or jail opponents. They try to do the same in countries of their sphere of influence which are all over the world. They don't want just to be a balla

Pytanie #12:

okay guys here is my English paper in Berlin tell me what you think and really tell me dont be afraid ?

Im not really done with it yet but its a start right

Berlin, the largest city of Germany; it has a population of 3 ½ million and it is one of Europe’s most cultural, political and economic stable city.
Berlin started a trading village about A.D. 1200 and over time it’s location at the junction of the Spree and Havel rivers—a trading crossroads—helped to establish its importance. In the 1600’s Berlin came to be the capital of Prussia and becoming a German state. 2 centuries later the Nazi party let them selves be known to the Jews.
During WW2; which was 1939-1945 the Germany and other Axis powers fought with the Allies which were France, Soviet Union, United Kingdom and United States.
After Germany was defeated in 1945, the Allies divided the nation into two sections, communist East Germany and non-communist West Germany. East Berlin was the capital for East Germany and Bonn was made West Germany capital, this played a role in the Cold War.
In 1961, during the Cold War the East Germany government blocked all access to West Germany by building the Berlin Wall a high and heavy guarded battier.
In 1989, East Germany government collapsed and the Berlin wall was knocked down, meaning the capital of united Germany.
Berlin covers an area of 341 squares miles (883square kilometers) and the entire metropolitan area lies within the city limits. Within the city limits lie many parks, lakes, gardens, and forested areas, and some open farmland. The mean temperature in Berlin in January is 34 F and in July it is 64 F.
Because of all of these current events in Germany the ethnic population in Germany is Primarily German; 2.6 million citizens and residents of Turkish descent; Danish minority in the north, Sorbian (Slavic) minority in the east; 7.3 million foreign residents. The common language is German and French.
The most famous part of this city is the Brandenburg Gate. For as a friend told me “it is the place that symbolizes the reunification and has also been important before. Politicians have held speeches there; mega concerts take place and also the biggest fireworks on New Year’s Eve and other big holidays”. As for the contributions; what hasn’t Germany done to bring this Country more together and unified.

Pytanie #13:

Which language would you choose as an official and a minority language?

These are in order from most to least spoken.
(A) English
(B) Spanish
(C) Chinese (Mandarin)
(D) French
(E) German
I myself would choose English as the official language and German as second minority since it is closer than Spanish and easier for Americans to learn.

Pytanie #14:

What is the difference btw the Italian immigrants from the 1800's and the Hispanic immigrants of today?

I'm just curious what others think. Italians aren't considered a minority, yet they spoke a foreign language when they arrived in the US. There are currently quite a few Russians immigrating to the US today, and even though they don't speak English they are considered Caucasian. Why don't the Hispanics consider themselves Caucasian? Historically, most of their ancestors either immigrated from Spain (Western European) or were Native American. If you were to describe someone from Mexico and someone from Italy, you would probably use the same characteristics. So would someone please explain to me why Hispanics are constantly referred to as a minority group instead of a Caucasian group that speaks a different language? What makes the Hispanic group different from the German immigrants, Polish immigrants, Bosnian immigrants, Greek immigrants, etc?
I'm not talking about the need for immigrants to fulfill jobs or even the debate on legal versus illegal. I'm asking a question on the basic standard of classification. Why are two groups both from Western Europe that have similar characteristics and speak a language other than English classified differently?

Pytanie #15:

Does any other born American feel like the minority in our country?

I was born and raised in America, yes my ancestors came from other countries as like many others, but if you want to become American then you should go through the process like other immigrants, including all steps to become an American citizen, like learning the english language and learning about our country. So how many mexicans can say their pledge of alligience, they can't so why are we conforming to the spanish language, I don't recall our country having to conform to the German language or any other foreign language like we do the spanish. I am tired of living in little Tijuana when I live in America

Pytanie #16:

Can someone read my research paragraph and tell me what I should change or edit?

“Eight hundred thousand Tutsis killed in a hundred days--that’s five and a half lives terminated every minute” (Gourevitch 133). The deaths of these Rwandan Tutsis are the result of the 1994 genocide committed by the Hutus in Rwanda. Ethnic conflicts between the two groups can be traced to the early 1800s, when the Tutsi minority held most of the powerful political positions while the Hutu majority were mainly peasants. However, the two groups spoke the same language, intermarried, and followed the same religion without partitions until the Germans colonized Rwanda (Bodnarchuk 17). The Germans favored the Tutsis for their supposed “fine oval faces, large eyes, and high noses” (Gourevitch 52). Doing so forcibly separated the so called “superior race” of the Tutsis from the Hutus (52). One author who researched these ethnic distinctions were researched is Philip Gourevitch, who traveled to Rwanda to interview survivors of the genocide so he can understand why the genocide began in his history, We Wish to Inform You That Tomorrow We Will be Killed With Our Families. In his history, Gourevitch particularly explores the physical and economic differences between the Hutus and Tutsis as the driving force behind nightmare.
I know to italicize lol. Also, I cannot make my own statement. This is a research paper. I cannot change a quotation either (in the statistic <3pirate). But thanks for the help

Pytanie #17:

Are liberal beliefs racist and sexist?

BOB KERREY CLARIFIES THE LIBERAL VIEWS OF BLACKS AND WOMEN
by Dennis Prager
Townhall
April 13, 2004
This is how Bob Kerrey, a member of the 9-11 Commission and former Democratic senator from Nebraska, opened his questioning of Condoleezza Rice before the Commission last week:

"Thank you, Dr. Rice. Let me say at the beginning I'm very impressed, and indeed I'd go as far as to say moved by your story, the story of your life and what you've accomplished. It's quite extraordinary."

It is widely believed in universities and in the media that conservatives are more likely than liberals to be racist and sexist. I have long believed that the opposite is true, that most Democratic politicians and most liberal activists, at the very least, do not regard black people as they do all others and, at worst, believe that blacks are inferior. I am similarly convinced that many men who most rail against sexism and advocate feminism hold women in lower esteem.

It is almost inconceivable that Sen. Kerrey would have said anything analogous to any other American (with the possible exception of one from Mexico or Puerto Rico) -- a Japanese, a Jew, a Pole, a German, a Uruguayan -- no matter how impressive their rags to power story.

Here's possible proof. Take the example of another minority individual who rose from worse circumstances than Condoleezza Rice to be the head of American foreign policy -- Dr. Henry Kissinger, secretary of state under President Richard Nixon. His Jewish parents fled Nazi Germany for their lives and brought their teenage son, Henry, to America. In addition to having to adjust to an entirely different culture, a new language and the loss of nearly all the property his family owned, Henry Kissinger grew up aware that many if not all of his Jewish relatives and friends back in Germany were being murdered.

Yet, one cannot imagine a senator beginning a hearing with Henry Kissinger noting how impressed he was with Mr. Kissinger's life story. Why not? Because many liberals and most Democratic leaders do not take blacks and women as seriously as they take whites and men. Blacks and women are regarded more as symbols -- of American and male oppression -- than as real people. Also, whereas a white liberal regards a white male as an individual, the white liberal is more likely to regard blacks and women as groups rather than as individuals. And, of course, they are seen as indispensable votes.

In their hearts, many Americans on the left do regard blacks as somewhat inferior, meaning, in other words, that they harbor racist views. That is the only explanation for the nearly universal leftist belief that all whites are racist, a libel that your child has probably been taught at college in some diversity or racial sensitivity seminar.

When a white liberal says or writes this, we presume he is including himself. Unless he is saying "all whites except me" are racist -- a claim so megalomaniacal that the claimant risks dismissal as a crackpot -- he obviously means that this includes himself. And in this he is right. One reason that so many liberals believe that all whites are racist is that they are projecting their racism onto all other whites.

It is probable that belief in black inferiority, or at least in black differentness, also helps to explain white liberal support for the lowering of standards for blacks, i.e., affirmative action and quotas. Conservatives believe that no changing of standards is necessary in order for blacks to succeed.

Likewise, one reason many liberal leaders support the feminist agenda and detect sexism wherever possible is that they know their own record and attitudes vis-a-vis women. As is often the case, two of the leading supporters of women's rights -- former President Bill Clinton and Sen. Ted Kennedy -- are known for their mistreatment of women. The same holds true for Hugh Hefner -- the leading displayer of naked women in history, a man who believes that the primary purpose of a woman is to function as a man's (sexual) playmate -- is a major supporter of feminism and feminist organizations. On the other hand, many of the leading Republican national politicians -- such as Sen. Orrin Hatch and the two Presidents Bush -- are noted for their respectful treatment of the women in their lives.

For all these reasons, Sen. Bob Kerrey, liberal, decided to comment publicly only about Condoleezza Rice's personal story.

Like many people of his political persuasion and in his political party, he saw her as an extraordinary black and female well before he saw her as an extraordinary individual.

The use and learning of the German language are promoted by a number of organisations. The government-backed Goethe Institut (named after the famous German author Johann Wolfgang von Goethe) aims to enhance the knowledge of German culture and language within Europe and the rest of the world.
