I have a son named Wagner Joseph, and now we're expecting a girl. I'm caught between Ammonia and

btw, Ammonia isn't a german name. I just thought it was pretty.
Ute is my husband's aunt.
Pytanie #3:
One of my contacts asked how to teach 'nums' (neologism for both numerals and numbers) ) 1-20, in a foreign or native language.
Only two people answered. S/he said s/he needs more methods. That made me think of one, but this Contact does not accept emails or IMs, so I have to offer the idea in a question.
What if you (the teacher), make up your own words? (Keep the symbols we use all over the world now, thanks to the Arabs of old, before Islam.
We are all familiar with at least a few foreign words and numbers, even if not bilingual, and one might consult how Esperanto does it, but relying on a dictionary I used to have of 800 primitive caveman language words, and German, Esperanto, and Latin (besides English), I offer some grunts that would express something that is in no lnaguage I know of, but maybe its of my own essence:
1. Un 2. Do 3. trux 4. Quf 5. Sef 6. Sequez 7. Seibz 8. Hach (like the Japanese)
9. Nuhn 10. Dan 11. Undan 12. Dodan 13 truxdan 14. Qufdan 15. Sefdan 16. Sequezdan 17. Seibzdan 18. Hachdan 19. Nuhndan 20. Dandan.
Well, the fun and exercise is in making up your own.... No BA here, I'll leave it to voters.
Pytanie #4:
I remember reading about this... it's a German word for that really dark shade of gray that we see when we're in pitch darkness. Apparently humans cannot perceive perfect black because our optic nerves (or brains, not sure which) are still randomly firing electric impulses even with no stimuli. Thing is, I can't remember what the Germans call that color. Does anyone know?

Pytanie #6:
My family has possibly agreed to let me have another dog. However, they will only allow a small dog. I have a Pomeranian. The German Shepherd has been my dream dog but I won't be able to get one until I move out (which is in a year). My family does love the idea of a Papillon as my dog's playmate. And I want another dog so badly that I don't know if I should wait any longer (my Pom is a year and 4 months old, female). The next dog I get will for sure be a male. People are pressuring me and saying "if you wait any longer than your Pom may have changed her personality and not want a playmate anymore". Which I don't think will happen because my Pom is so good with other dogs to start with. Please, I need some advice. Should I get the Papillon now or wait for a while for my dream dog?
PS- no rude answers please.
I put this is the pet section, and not the dog section, for personal reasons.
Pytanie #7:
I've been seeing a lot of extremes on this matter. On one hand, the History books speak of the NAZI's as savages without a cause, relentlessly killing anyone who looked slightly different and performing sick, horrible experiments on the Jews, and pretty much just trying to ruin everyone's day.
On the totally opposite extreme, there are those who suggest the holocaust didn't happen, and that the prison camps were intended more for Soviet prisoners, and further, that the deaths in said camps were due to disease and were not intended.
I've heard similar extremes towards Hitler, as being very respectable and influential, and as a fanatical racist.
While the Evil-Nazi view is pretty much the only one taught in schools, most likely to prevent any kind of neo-nazi gangs, the not-as-bad-as-you-would-think-Nazi view considers the fact that a war's victors are the ones who write history. What I mean is, historically, the war's winners exaggerate the evils of the enemy and victimize themselves to improve patriotism/morale during reconstruction. More direct cases are in the propaganda posters describing the enemy as ferocious villains, rather than a very similar group of people.
So my question is, is one or the other correct, or is there a solid middle ground we all finally agree on. I'm strongly German-American, and am interested in German culture and history, but this is a big hole in the timeline, because it doesn't seem to me like the Germans would go on an all-out rampage without some at least decently rational reason for doing so.
I never really said I agreed totally with the anti-holocaust belief. of course it happened. But seriously, I'm sick of everyone saying the germans were inhuman, unworthy of living, and that they should have been destroyed before they saw the light of day. it's that kind of thinking that started WWII in the first place with the Treaty of Versailles.
I'm not saying the Nazi's were good, I'm just saying to realize the Nazi's were a group of people. HUMANS, HOMO SAPIENS. How does saying they're inhuman make you any better?
Good answers, guys. That last addition was pointed at the first 2 answers. one for assuming I thought the holocaust didn't happen, the second for not even wanting to consider anything but the default point of view.
Pytanie #8:
I have a dog dish for my eldest German Shepherd - it is big and has a beige base (it is like a foot wide, two feet deep and two feet long - you can store food inside of it and raise it to different levels for the dog's height. It is made of a hard plastic and has two metal dishes in it plus a little screw-in portion that you could screw in a bottle of water for.
I got it from Wal-Mart and it was about $30.00 Canadian for it.
I went back and they were sold out, saying that they didn't know if/when they were getting any more in.
These dishes are amazing and my dog loves them - but my other little ones are going to need them when they get bigger so that their dishes are level with them and they are not stretching down to eat their food.
Does anyone know the NAME BRAND or even just what these dishes are CALLED? I need to find somewhere else that sells them or even buy it offline, I don't care but I need two more and Zellers doesn't have them and none of the pet stores (Pet Smart or Pet Valu) have any in my city.
Please help!

OK, so some Muslims killed some Americans and now the Americans seem to have a problem with Muslims and Mosques. So did Americans have a problem with Christians and Churches when all those Christian Germans were killing Americans in WW1 and WW2?

Otter: it may have escaped your attention that there were several million Germans, NOT one. Anyway, wasn't Hitler Austrian?

Recently I have inherited several wooden carved paintings from Europe. I cannot find who made them or anything online that resembles it. It is of a German village or maybe some sort of European village, with darker colors, and each picture has a small tree with blooms on it. Each picture is made of carved wood. Was this a trend or something that was sold to tourist in the 1960s? It was bought in Frankfurt Germany around 1962. Any help would be great!!!

I am going to go into the police force when I leave school and my long term goal is the dog squad. Im not just joining for the dogs because I am well aware its a police job.
I currently have 3 small dogs, 1 of which is a 1 year 4 month poodle that I have been training for 1 year 2 months and hav been doing agility the whole time as well.
When i finish school Im having a gap year to get fit for the police focce. In that gap year I want to take on a police dog puppy such as a German Shepard. There are some sort of programs likee this.
I live in New South Wales.
Is this in anyway selfish of me? I will took full care of the dog and the experience with a big breed of dog. All my training is positive reinforcement. It may even benefit me when trying to get into the dog squad but if not its still a great experience.
I think you have it for about 2 years.
Can anyone give me any info on it?
Does it sound selfish of me to do it with other dogs? I take my dogs on at least an hour walk everday.

I have a 6 month old “insecure” German Sheppard mixed puppy. No matter how much exercise I give her she still tries to dominate and jump all over my little sister. I thought that if she was tired she wouldn't get so worked up when my sister is around. I know that it is in big part my sister’s attitude causing the dog’s behavior but is there any training or techniques I could teach them so my puppy won’t obsess over my sister? And another thing, when I take her to the dog park she stays near people and tends to freak out when a larger dog wants to play. How do I make the dog interact better?

Obviously He spoke also Latin (talked to Pontius Pilate) and Greek. But were the Scriptures (Letters, Gospels, etc) written in Greek? Or that is a con job done by the Primitive Church in Rome (after the dead of Paul, when "ravenous wolves" would enter the Congregation), which translated the original Scriptures into Greek, because Latin would eventually die? It's peculiar, but the one responsible for this arrangement was actually a person whose name was Origenes (Original?). This action - although not known to them - precluded them from being forgotten (in Latin, who no one else spoke beyond the Church) and used a language that would be embedded into German, English. This way "even the bad works for the Good".
(Zephaniah 3:9) " For then will I turn to the peoples of a pure language, that they may all call upon the name of Jehovah, to serve him with one consent." Then came Greek hoyne, a mirror of Hebrew. Afterwards, vowels were added; as it was promised. Then Hebrew was spoken in 1948. (Matthew 5:18) "For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled." Isn't it fantastic?

Here are some potential nicknames for my favorites, and I'd like to know what y'all think.
Note: The spellings of these nicknames are not so important, though this is how I'd spell them. They would rarely, if ever, be written down.
1.) Abram : Bram or Bray or Bay
2.) Adelaide : Ailie ("AY lee") or Aidie ("AY dee") - I find myself really preferring Ailie.
3.) Charlotte : Shaw - Actually, I'm not sure how I'd spell this.
4.) Lawson : Law
5.) Matilda : Mati ("mah TEE") or Mechtilde ("mekh TILL deh"). Mechtilde is an old German form of the name that only I'd use.
6.) Rosamund : Rossie or Rozie. Actually, I probably won't use a nickname for Matilda or Rosamund, but I'm just playing with options.
So, what do you think of these nicknames?

He just turned six, on August 27. They normally live for 9 and a half years. The day before he was fine! We think he had a stroke or seizure. So, my question is it was such a sudden death, what could have happened to him to make him die so suddenly? and Would a Doberman be a good dog, for family, and house protecting?

Hi All,
I watched a movies long long time back but cant find it now.
Well, it was in French language. A Group of Americans and/or British work as secret agents in American? embassy in Germany during war, they were digging a tunnel to spy German communication wires...
The lead actor is an English with eye glasses (looks like the guy in "The Spanish Prisoner") who fell in love with a German lady, a blond... their love story started one evening in a bar when she sent him a message to his table where he was sitting with a flower behind his ear... asking him to invite her for a dance...
Her ex-husband came to her house one night and tried to kill him, then she interfered and hit her ex on the head then together with her lover they cut his body and put it in a bag...
The lead actor's boss was Anthony Hopkins (i think) who envied him for such a beautiful lady and who finishes by getting married to her in the end as her lover has to run away when the secret project was discovered by Germans...then the couple meets at last both old, she has two kids... That's all i remember.
Can anybody remember the title of this movie. Please! please!
Cheers

Please share with me some of the books and authors that inspire you, that move you, that give you perspective.
I've been struggling to find books to distract and to encourage a person with depression. Any good read is a distraction but I've been aiming at offering books with a little more than a cutesy or funny story.I would like to offer him books with interesting, perhaps moving, perspectives on pain, struggle, survival, happiness, peace or any subject that might be of help to the person.
I am completely over the self-help books.I've read so many and I think they are an insult to the person's intelligence. I am mostly focusing on non-fiction.I am not a very accomplished reader, beyond Dostoevsky,Kafka,Nietzsche,Trotsky and other dead Russians and Germans, I don't know anything.
So I come to you for ideas and suggestions. Both fiction and non-fiction work.I just want to find some stories or ideas that can give a bit of hope or an interesting perspective.I don't want to cure depression through reading.Just something that could contribute in a small way to win his daily battle.Books on any discipline, philosophy or philosopher, history, a novel, a memoir, anything with substance. It doesn't have to be a happy story, even if its hard to read,I want it to be a worthy read.
*I know someone will but if you really want to help me,please don't say the Bible.
Thanks!

Now, I know some Christians do crazy things. I just want to point something out.
I have seen many people use the crusades, witch hunts, many things of the like as ammo against Christianity. Although it is not correct to do this. Its like blaming the Germans for Hitlers actions. Or blaming white people for enslaving African Americans. We are not reasonable for our ancestors actions.
Your average Christian is a good person. Levels of faith vary, but most are more or less very good people with no ill intent. They just want to live their lives and go to their afterlife happily. Of course there are also the bad ones, which are also numerous. But of course the fact that there are many more Christians then atheists is a factor in this.
I have seen many people that are not Christian, (mostly atheists...mostly atheists here guys!) stereotype and judge Christians in this unfair way. So some Christians may be ignorant about their bible. So what? I'm sure atheists are ignorant about something important too. May it be races, laws, science, philosophy, artwork...everyone is ignorant of something.
Some Christians discard the old testament all together. Which is quite frankly a good choice in terms of fairness. Even if it is full of mistranslations.
Some Christians have never touched a bible. Can't blame them. Not everyone needs to be a scholar!
Now of course, many Christians misjudge atheists as well. Thinking they all hate Christianity, religion, and worship science or something. But its the same thing as atheists misjudging Christianity. Difference in beliefs causes avoidance of another persons beliefs and opinions, also causing them to become parrots, screaming what they have heard.
So, atheists, do you think you misjudge Christians some times? Same with you Christians. Actually, all religions and beliefs. Do you accept the fact that you have done this in one point in your life?
Talkin' to a agnostic hybrid here buddy. I don't care enough.

Okay soo...I have a 7 month old male German Rottweiler, Luda, that started off having diarrhea. One week later it still had not gotten any better so I took him to the vet and he said he was fine and gave me some pills to help with his poop. (By the way, my rott loves to eat anything and everything including his own poop & rocks).. The following week he would go from laying around all day and looking very sick to being hisself...
This Saturday when we woke up Luda had tiny white worm looking things in his poop. We took him to the vet and they did a fecal sample but did not find anything. According to what we described we had seen earlier, the vet diagnosed it as tapeworms and gave Luda a shot to "deworm" him. As soon as we got home he went poop and it was full of worms..Next morning we checked on him and his eyes were very red with white mucus looking discharge, he had these tiny skinny white things (length wise a little smaller than the size of a grain of rice but very very skinny) on his coat. There was also these little small white balls that look like salt. When you put your hand on them they move and Luda flinches like it hurts him. They started off around his butt but then moved all over his body. They also have managed to make theyre way onto our back door, in our rug, and on some of our furniture & cabinets. I called the vet and explained to the nurse our situation. She said since the "worms" were moving (i guess after deworming the worms should not move) we needed to bring him in.
When we got there the vet said there is NOTHING wrong with him. He also said that what these "little bugs" were was NOT tapeworms and infact that they were not a living thing & didn't move. I dont understand how nothing is wrong with him but yet he is covered in these little bugs and he looks/acts miserable? Oh and how would they get onto my kitchen cabinets if they did not move? Ive been trying to figure out what these "little white problems" are but no hope.. Any ideas?
That is EXACTLY what I said.. I think this guy was an idiot! I do not think he touched my dog once. I was not very happy... BUUUUTTTT it was on a Saturday and Sunday, my vet was closed, so I had to take him to a ER hospital.
About the flea shampoo and stuff.. he is taking Comfortis the flea and tick pill.. and he is not really scratching he just seems like every once in a while something hurts his butt by his tail.

I have a 1 year and 4 month old minituare poodle I have been training for about 13 months of different obediences courses and have maintained agility for about 11 months. I have gone through 3 obedience courses and am about to start an advanced obedience course.
All positive reinforcement.
My poodle has a lot of energy and drive, her reward is her ball. If later in life I wanted to buy a German Shepard because I also love big dogs (looking to go into the NSW police dog unit for a career) are they much harder to train than smaller dogs?
I walk my dog an hour a day and am aware that a German Shepard needs that exercise. The drive and loyality they have seems great.
I have a fair bit of experience and was wondering do you think it is a lot harder to train a big dog than smaller dog?
